It Can’t Happen to Me!

Everyone on the (*DEAD LINK*) Internet is talking about how Hello!Project would or wouldn’t work in America. Well, it is way too hard to predict the music industry. Ah, but a prediction I will make. With the support it is getting now, even for much lesser known groups, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the idol industry around in 10 years. That means the middle-aged wota community will still exist in 10 years.

That means I’ll become one of them…

Oh god!

I won’t be middle-aged in 10 years. But it’ll be close enough! If I were in my young teenage years, I could claim it was hormones. Nowadays, I can sit back with a latte and preach on the artistic and social implications of the music on today’s generation. When I do hit middle age, what excuse will I have? How will I justify watching idols when Mai Hagiwara finally hits her teenage years?

While I am slightly kidding around, it is something that I’ve thought about.

When I first got into Morning Musume, I was younger than just about all of the members. Eventually, the average age of Morning Musume started to equal my age. Berryz Koubou came along and I said to myself, “why would I find them interesting? I hate kids!” Apparently, I don’t hate H!P kids. When I read about the debut of C-ute (I can remember reading it on Santos), I said that there’s no way I can handle more U15, I’m almost 21. Again, that didn’t last long. Now, I’m already finding myself interested in The Possible.

Still, at my age, I can still get away with being a fan of the idol industry. Eventually, I will reach that age where my neighbors will be waiting for me to show up on the next Chris Hansen special. Will I have lost all social understanding by that point and be one of those people who willingly wear Berryz outfits? Or will I turtle myself in and deny the fact that I enjoy idols. I’m guessing that it will be similar to death. The older I get, the more acceptance comes into play and I realize that I can’t change the way things simply are!

Ah death, big joke upcoming, get ready for this one! And I even get to tie in another hot topic as of late.

There are only four certainties things in life. Death, taxes, love for idols and Ai Takahashi’s boring personality.

Smooth as can be.

Anyways, I love Ongaku Gatas. I will get more into this later. I think it is the perfect group that (ideally) appeals to all the different types of H!P fans. I just need to remember to write it.
