Went to the Medicine Wheel event, wrote down a story and a prayer. It actually got a bit emotional lol

I Want to Run Around Naked on a Deserted Island

I never made a comment about Ayaka graduating. I held the belief that v-u-den graduating was for the best. I am not going to go over every single point, but I hold the same idea with Ayaka. She was not doing anything, Hello!Project was wasting talent, blah blah blah. Anyways, here is my favorite Surprise English Lesson:

I love the people running out of the camera in the background. Mari’s phrase is even better with the big giant card covering her shirt. Apparently Mari couldn’t wait to get on a deserted island to run around naked.

I always wondered who was the real star of Ayaka’s English Lesson. Ayaka was good at what she did - interacting with Morning Musume. What if instead of talking to Morning Musume, Ayaka talked to random citizens and tried to get them to say random phrases? The fact that it is Mari Yaguchi answering the questions is what makes this situation great, right?

I know that it can be a slightly upsetting statement. I am a fan of Ayaka myself and my immediate reaction to this thought is leaning towards “No way! Ayaka is great!” I used to think that Surprise English Lesson was a really great segment and that there was something unique to it. Unfortunately, when I think about it, maybe Ayaka in Surprise English Lesson just wasn’t that special. I cannot believe that, in this entire world, there is not another English-Japanese bilingual person who has a decent amount of charisma to them. I don’t know what Ayaka brings to the table that they couldn’t.

I guess it’d be different if Ayaka DID go out to random people. That way she could attempt to make the segment interesting without the associations that would be applied to Morning Muusme.

Whatever the case, Ayaka is trying to become an actress. I don’t know if she will make an impact. What difference does it make? Her career was basically over in Hello!Project and it might as well be done now. At the very least, she got to do more than most in the entertainment industry.

They would have to be as cute as Ayaka. That is something she brings to the table. But I have to agree with you, it is the Musumes that really star in those clips and make them great. But Ayaka was the host, and by default she is awesome too. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Well, obviously Mika could have done it too. That would not have been the same at all. The Ayaka/Yossy clips are priceless I think. And the Tsuji/Kago ones are great cause she’s a great straightman vs them. Other ones…maybe it wasn’t her so much as the combinations. She’s playing “host” to these segments, so she’s just trying to get something funny out of the girls, not really trying to be funny herself. Singing wise too, her by herself, she’s just good, nothing really special. Acting is a good choice for her I think.

I guess that, as far as being the straight man in a routine, I was not giving her enough credit. Although I think she does break character too often to be your classical straight man in a routine.

I do like Ayaka, I just feel that, in this particular case (SEL), she was the right place at the right time.
